Secret Asset, owned by Kinsale Racing is likely to run his first race of 2009 up at Thirsk on the 16th May, ground permitting. The grey gelding by Clodovil requires good to firm ground and is working very well up the gallops at Mark Brisbourne's.

Petrocelli, trained by Alan McCabe, owned by Raymond Tooth and bred and raised at Kinsale Stud ran a fantastic first race at Leicester yesterday, beaten by just over a length. The son of Sarcita is by Piccolo and is one to watch for the season.

Born on Wednesday evening at 10pm Yes Dear foaled a lovely filly by Pastoral Pursuits. Pastoral Pursuits, by Bahamian Bounty, won the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket and his first two year olds will run in 2009. He was the sire of the top lot at the Doncaster Breeze-up sales last week, bought by Richard Hannon for 190,000gns.

The mare Nina by Nintender out of Kinsale Hopeful Clover, born at Kinsale is scanned 16 days in foal.

Fantastic news to lift the moral of Kinsale Stud as Wood Fern has his tendon scanned to see if it has healed after a career stopping injury...... and it has!!

All the hard work and dedication of all at Kinsale Stud has paid off as thanks to the use of our new “ZAMAR” machine Wood Fern has made a full recovery and will return to training with Donald McCain in June 2009.

We would like to thank Wood Ferns owners The General Mens Racing club for their continued support of Kinsale Stud and wish them the best of luck with him in 2009.

To top off an already fantastic day PUNJABI trained by Nicky Henderson and owned by Mr Ray Tooth wins the £210,000 Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham at 22-1 beating Celestial Halo, and punters favorite Binocular. Next stop Punchestown!

Following his recent win at Great Leighs in November 08, Fizzlephut wins again at Wolverhampton for Julia Tooth. Fizzle has enjoyed a summer break at Kinsale Stud and has returned refreshed and hungry for the winning post. We will watch his 2009 campaign with interest and look forward to seeing him next summer.

Baizically – owned by Mr John Babb of Shropshire Wolves returns into training to Alan Swinbanks after a well deserved rest at Kinsale Stud.

Ayr Gold cup and Portland winner Sarcita and her daughter Nine Red both foal bay fillies on consecutive days fathered by the Mickley Stud based stallion MULTIPLEX.

The second foal of 2009 is born, Lola Lola gives birth to a very lively chesnut Filly by Needwood Blade.

Terrible snow storms all week the yard seems frozen to a stand still Carla, Shell, Helen and Steph are working hard as water buckets are carried by the dozen as all pipes are frozen for days on end!
